The Indian Institute of Technology IIT Kharagpur was established on August 18, 1951, and is the first IIT in India. It was created to train engineers after India gained independence, but over time, it has expanded into fields like management, law, architecture, and humanities.

Rs. 1,000 per month for 10 months awarded to the academically best third-year Mechanical Engineering student in B.Tech./Dual Degree courses.
K.K. Agrawal Memorial Scholarship
Rs. 400 per month for 10 months awarded to the academically best final-year Agricultural and Food Engineering student in B.Tech./Dual Degree courses.
Madan Sundar Sahu Memorial Scholarship
Rs. 2,100 per month for a second-year B.Tech./Dual Degree student based on CGPA at the end of the second semester; annual family income should not exceed Rs. 2.5 lakh.
Batch of ’85 Scholarship
Two scholarships of Rs. 50,000 each for two second-year students across all Undergraduate disciplines based on GPA of 1st year and means criterion per institute rules.
