M.Tech admission at IIT Tirupati is based on GATE scores. Candidates must first apply for the GATE exam and secure a valid score. After qualifying, they must register for the Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP), where IITs publish admission offers. Shortlisted candidates are required to apply through the IIT Tirupati admission portal and participate in further selection rounds, if applicable. The final selection is based on GATE scores, COAP seat allocation, and institute-level requirements.
For M.Sc admission, candidates must qualify for IIT-JAM. After obtaining a valid IIT-JAM score, candidates must participate in the Centralized Counselling for M.Sc (CCMN). Based on merit and preference, seats are allotted through the counselling process. Candidates must confirm their admission by submitting the required documents and paying the admission fees.
Admission to the Master of Public Policy (MPP) course at the institute is open to both GATE and non-GATE candidates. Those with a GATE score receive preference, while non-GATE candidates must appear for an institute-conducted written test and interview. The final selection is based on entrance exam scores, past academic records, and performance in selection rounds. Candidates must complete the application process through institute admission portal.
PhD admission involves a multi-stage selection process. Candidates must have a relevant postgraduate degree and apply through the institute’s online portal. Shortlisted applicants are invited for a written test and interview conducted by the respective departments. Those with valid GATE, UGC-NET, CSIR-NET, or other national-level fellowship scores may receive direct shortlisting for interviews. Final admission is based on academic performance, entrance test scores, and interview evaluation.
Candidates must have passed Class 12 with a minimum of 75% aggregate (65% for SC/ST) in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. They must also qualify for JEE Main to be eligible for JEE Advanced. Admission is based on JEE Advanced ranks and JoSAA counselling.
Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology or a relevant field. A valid GATE score is required for admission. Some candidates, such as IIT graduates with high CGPA, may be eligible for direct admission without GATE.

For M.Sc and MPP students, the institute provides a Merit-cum-Means Scholarship to 25% of students with INR 1,000 per month and a tuition fee waiver. The Free Studentship covers tuition fees for 10% of students. Those with at least 6.5 CGPA and parental income below INR 4.50 lakhs per year can get a 50% tuition fee waiver under the 50% Free Studentship.
